Obviously neither the dice-rolling, nor the attribute bidding works well in a play-by-post scenario. Although a Dice Roller will be made available to anyone preferring to stick to the game-rules, I've constructed an alternative system that I think works better on the boards.
Each character has a certain amount of Energy to use (twice their current blood pool), and regenerates it at a specific amount (3 times their Blood Pool/Turn). You use these in attack/defense measures. For every conflict, be it social, mental, or physical, energy allocation should be expressed in offense/defense categories.
You can use a limited amount of energy per action based on the skill/attribute of that action. So, in a fight, Melee+Dexterity would be the maximum amount of Energy you could spend on an attack in which you use a melee weapon. Items may grant "free" energy that can be used every round, such as a knife that will grant 1 free energy (though still limited to the maximum amount of energy) towards melee rolls, or a pistol which will grant 3 free energy towards firearm rolls.
If you expend all your energy on the 1st 2 turns, you leave yourself open to a beating on followup turns. If you are too sparing on your energy expenditure, those first 2 turns might take a bit out of you.
Energy replenishes completely after each scene. Anyone in a Frenzy or Rage may not spend any less than the maximum on the attack, and may not spend anything at all on defense.
Note: Would penalties apply to your maximum. If you are mauled for example, your maximum pool decreases by 2. If your Maximum Pool becomes lower (or starts lower) than bonus points from items, you use your Maximum Pool instead, but don't have to actually expend any energy.
